# ThirdHand > Local-first novel writing environment designed for ADHD and ASD profiles. One-time purchase, no subscription. ThirdHand is a desktop writing application built specifically for novelists with ADHD or ASD. It occupies the middle ground between minimalist editors (too simple for complex novels) and feature-heavy tools (too overwhelming for neurodivergent users). ## Core philosophy - **Local-first**: no account, no cloud, no latency. All data stays on the user's machine. - **One-time purchase**: users pay once, use it forever. No subscription model. Ever. - **Text-first**: the writing interface is the center. Everything else is secondary and hidden until needed. - **Designed for neurodivergent minds**: clean UI, no visual noise, sensory-friendly defaults. ## Key features - Full-screen focus mode: locks the interface to writing only, no distractions - Continuous scroll between chapters — one seamless reading and writing flow - Character sheets with dynamic attributes and pixel-art avatars (DiceBear) - Place sheets with emoji icons and custom colors - Timeline view: narrative and per-character views - Built-in Pomodoro timer (non-intrusive, bottom-right) - Writing heatmap for the last 14 days + daily word goal - Quick-access rail for pinned characters and places - Full-text search across all chapters - Automatic backup with configurable folder and rotation - Export to PDF (chapters, character bible) and raw Markdown - Bilingual interface: French and English, auto-detected ## Technical details - Platform: macOS desktop application (Tauri 2 — Rust backend + React frontend) - Storage: local SQLite database via rusqlite - No network requests during normal use - Planned: Windows support ## Availability - Mac App Store (upcoming, waitlist open at thirdhand.studio) - Windows (planned for a later date) - Pricing: one-time purchase (price TBA at launch) ## Creator Made by Nicolas SAGOT — independent developer. ## Links - [Website & waitlist](https://thirdhand.studio) - [English version](https://thirdhand.studio/en)
