ThirdHand is a desktop writing application built specifically for novelists with ADHD or ASD. It occupies the middle ground between minimalist editors (too simple for complex novels) and feature-heavy tools (too overwhelming for neurodivergent users).

## Core philosophy

- **Local-first**: no account, no cloud, no latency. All data stays on the user's machine.
- **One-time purchase**: users pay once, use it forever. No subscription model. Ever.
- **Text-first**: the writing interface is the center. Everything else is secondary and hidden until needed.

## Technical details

- Platform: macOS desktop application (Tauri 2 — Rust backend + React frontend)
- Storage: local SQLite database via rusqlite
- No network requests during normal use
